November 5 - 6 Show - CFADA Twelfth Fine Art Annual Weekend

Nov. 5 Show - Women Painting Women Show - It will be from 5:30 - 8:30 on Friday and is open to the public. This show is part of CFADA's Fine Art Weekend. The weekend events include exhibits on Friday, plein air demonstrations in Washington Park during the day on Saturday with the Charleston Art Auction to follow Saturday night. www.cfada.com

October Show - Nathan Durfee Solo Show - "The Soft Embrace of a Pocelain Night" is the title of Nathan Durfee's most recent show, opening on October 1 from 5-8PM.

August 13 - Guest Curator - Olivia Pool with Art Pimp will be guest curating a show in the gallery for painter Karen Silvestro opening on August 13. The show will hang until the end of August with an opening reception from 5:30 - 8:30 on August 13.

July 16 Show - Still : Moving - Charles Williams & Joshua Flint for the CFADA Palette to Palate Stroll - We will be holding a show in conjunction with the CFADA Palette to Palate Stroll, an evening dedicated to fine art, cuisine and wine, where the best restaurants and galleries pair up for wonderful night. This year RLS Gallery is paired with Social Wine Bar & Restaurant. Tickets are required for the Friday Opening Reception from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Both artists will be on hand on July 17 painting in the gallery and answering questions from noon - 4:00PM.

July 7 - Bin 152 - Fred Jamar's paintings will be displayed at Bin 152 through the rest of the summer. To celebrate there will be a wine and cheese reception open to the public at Bin 152 starting a 7PM.

July 1 - Phone Book - Fred Jamar's image will be used on the cover of the local phonebook for AT&T.

June 30 - Today Show - Kerry Brooks paintings will be on the Today Show as part of their Feed the Need special. Watch between 8:30 and 9:00.

June 4 Show - Robert Lange Solo Show - After a five week hike through the Himalayas Robert has returned to create a series of works based around the idea of embracing life. The show titled, "Go" will open from 5-8PM and is open to the public. Following the show will be a private concert by Decca Records singer Brendan James. May 21 - RLS Celebration of Art & Life - To celebrate Robert Lange's return from a month long trip to Tibet and for no other reason than because life is amazing, RLS has teamed-up with local brewers The Lucas Brother's to create 6 custom beers that have been specially created for this one special night. May 18 - Kevin Costner's movie "The New Daughter" - Twelve paintings from the gallery (including eight of Megan Aline's pieces and four of Robert Lange's) will appear in the movie "The New Daughter" staring Kevin Costner and Ivana Baquero.

May 18 - Book Signing - Our friend David Diana wrote a book and we wanted to celebrate with a signing. The private celebration will be from 5:30 -8:30PM. Congrats David!

May 13 - Zonta Event - RLS is hosting the 3rd Annual Zonta Wine and Art Social from 6-8PM at the gallery. All are welcome.

December 4 Show - Different Strokes, The Galleries 5 Year Anniversary, & A Preview of Kerry Brooks Jan. Solo Show - The gallery opened on Dec. 4, 2004. To celebrate this, we are planning a wonderful show featuring new works from all of our artists. The show will be from 5:30 - 8:30 on Friday and is open to the public. NEW GALLERY OPENING RECEPTION - That's right, we're moving!! The new gallery location will be 2 Queen Street, which is less than a block from our current location. The space is a massive 2700 sq. feet. Nathan Durfee's show is currently scheduled for the opening on October 2.

July 17 Preview Show - Robert Lange Solo - Measure - To celebrate CFADA's Palette & Palate Stroll Robert Lange will be creating a body of work in which each piece brings an animal from nature, into the everyday, by playing with scale. The title of the show is "Measure: Creatures Great + Small." Lange's preview for this show will be from 5:30 - 8:30 on Friday and will require tickets.

June 20 - Record Bid - Robert Lange's painting sold for a record amount at this year's SPCA live auction event. As the local paper wrote, "That should help buy some kitty litter."

May 1 Show - New Artists & New Works Show - RLS is proud to introduce two new artists to Charleston, Jessica Dunegan and Adam Hall. We will also have 5 new works by artist JB Boyd. The opening reception will be held from 6-8PM on May 1st in conjunction with the French Quarter Art Walk.

April 10 Show - Group Show - Yellow vs Blue - This group show will include 15 local and national artists. Each artist will be creating two pieces of equal size, one which is dominated by blue and one which is dominated by yellow. The opening reception will be held from 6-8PM the SECOND Friday of April but will be on view from April 1 until April 24.

March 14 - Private Event - The gallery will be closed for a private event from 5:00 - 7:00. We will reopen following the event.

March 6 Show - Amy Lind Solo - Gaze - At only twenty-five, Lind presents two new still lives to accompany thirteen figurative pieces for her second solo show at Robert Lange Studios. The opening reception will be held from 6-8PM on March 6th in conjunction with the French Quarter Art Walk and the Food & Wine Festival.

February 27 - JB Boyd at the City Gallery - Lowcountry Artist of the year is J.B. Boyd's work “depicting the lowcountry” will be displayed at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park from Feb. 27 - April 20. The opening reception will be held February 27th from 6-8PM

July 11 Show - Amy Lind Solo Show & CFADA Palette to Palate Stroll - By The Window - (Formerly Amy Hahn) This figurative show of bold colors and rich light sources displays Lind's masterful ability to capture the character of a person. By the Window is Lind's second solo show at Robert Lange Studios and the work will hang through most of July.

Best Post-Modern Art Show: The Exhibition July 11–31, 2007 Robert Lange is an acute observer of the little things in life. He's partly known for taking everyday objects like a bottle of Red Stripe beer or an apple with its label on and giving them the attention to detail usually reserved for the "Mona Lisa" set. In last summer's The Exhibition, he brought his observational skills to bear on collectors and visitors to his East Bay gallery. He painted viewers avidly looking at paintings, all within one frame and slicked with a hyper-realist sheen. The results were excellent and gave some Charleston notables a chance to admire themselves admiring outstanding works of art.

Best Art Walk Discovery: In the Dark Oct. 3-31, 2007 Nick Smith, a City Paper critic, described "In Its Sleep" by New York artist Sean Clancy like this: "He harkens back to classical Greek art and his muscular, bare-armed form gives the painting a Homer-erotic edge." In other words, Clancy's In the Dark was a welcome surprise at last October's art walk, providing a bit of curiosity about literary history among the Holy City's army of visual artists. Clancy's exhibit made references to Homer's The Iliad, Spenser's Faerie Queen, Anton Chekhov, and Arthurian legend, as well as to Old Masters like Caravaggio. Last fall, there was talk of Clancy's return to Robert Lange. Now, City Paper has learned that he will be the gallery's featured artist during the 20th anniversary celebration of the French Quarter Gallery Association on Oct. 3.

March - Kevin Costner's movie "The New Daughter" - Twelve paintings from the gallery (including eight of Megan Aline's pieces and four of Robert Lange's) will appear in the movie being filmed through the month of March in the Charleston area, called "The New Daughter" staring Kevin Costner and Ivana Baquero. Theatrical release date to be determined.
