Robert Lange Studios upcoming exhibit, Dreamweaver, features the work of the contemporary landscape artist Adam Hall. Dreamweaver, is an introspective body of paintings that show the artist’s desire to follow his dreams.  Hall is known for his moody larger scale landscapes and single figure amongst nature works.

“The title for this upcoming exhibit is Dreamweaver and a lot of the paintings are literal dreams that I woke up from and had to go paint right away. There is a bit of bending the reality in many of the paintings. The show has to do with facing your fears and pursuing your dreams,” says Hall.

Hall’s style of painting is dramatic. Large swaths of paint will gesturally flow across the canvas, creating waves or branches. He will often put a lone faceless figure observing the landscape.

Hall describes the process of creating the work and drawing inspiration from his family life as, “a reawakening of dreaming again and fostering those dreams.” One work for the show titled “A Presence of Wonder,” which was the first piece he created in the body of work, shows a single child facing a crashing wave. The 42-by-42 inch oil on panel piece is more narrative than landscape and Hall used one of his sons as the model for the piece. “There’s a bit infused in all the paintings of childlike curiosity,” said Hall. This piece, as Hall says, is an allegory on, “Facing the reality of life as you grow up that wants to suffocate those curiosity and dreams.”

This exhibit is a celebration of both technique in the application of painting and nature in the subject of the paintings. The exhibition will hang from August 1  – August 26, 2022, and a festive reception, featuring music, wine, and hors d’oeuvres, is open to the public on August 1, 5:00-8:00 PM, in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk.
